Where to Call Home Next

One of the first areas our client’s have questions about revolve around the family home or where our loved one will live. This singular question evokes many mixed feelings about the answers. We start our conversations attempting to determine this status and often uncover the scenarios that are causing uneasiness in where to go next.

We have put in place a process to discuss these concerns and have aligned professional solutions that can adapt to the needs of our clients’. Our dialog is a delicate balance of determining:

Will mom stay in the family home?
Will dad stay with a family member?
Will mom or dad need modifications to the home?
Do they simply need Home Health Services?
Who will maintain the property?

Each of these answers has a number of next steps.  At Senior Lifestyle Strategies, we continue the conversation around real estate, options, budget-considerations and related services.

Your Next Level of Care

Another major area our clients have concerns about revolve around their medical care.* Then main questions stem from current and anticipated health care needs. Stress often surrounds this subject and how/who will deliver this care that is required. Breaking down this discussion with adults and adult children means recognizing all that goes into the truly “caring” for their loved one. As a small child who had to stay home from school with a bad cold, fever or injury, we didn’t think twice about how we would be taken care of.

We have put in place a process to discuss these concerns and have aligned professional solutions that can adapt to the needs of our clients’. Our dialog is a delicate balance of determining:

When to see a doctor
How to get to the doctor
What medications to take
What to eat
Where to sleep
Personal hygiene
What to do during recovery
Who will take care of us at home
How much all this costs

The translation of this care with other adult responsibilities takes on a whole new burden. At Next Level Living we have these discussions and how the current services are or are not satisfying a quality of living. These answers help shape the recommendations we make regarding: budget, quality of care and independent access.

Special Services

It has taken a lifetime to create a lifestyle and our clients demand it remain in tact. What makes this an especially sensitive area is that it touches on the time and resources needed to be accessible. We have awkward and uncomfortable conversations the might shift the responsibility of being provided by the client to another caregiver. Sharing routines and preferences opens up our clients to judgement and potential limitations due to finances and living accommodations.

What will we do with gramma’s cat?
Who will make grampa’s meals?
Mom’s nail salon is too far away.
Dad needs therapy. Who is going to take him?
Mom’s bridge club meets on Tuesdays. I work late.
Where will mom and dad go to church?
Are we really that comfortable with home delivery

Having the things around us that help us cope or make us happy is all part of living. We recognize that this is personal and defining. We assist in exploring this topic in an emotionally safe and judgement-free zone. Our end goal is to make your senior living as pleasant and personal as possible.
